If you’re feeling as though direction, focus and motivation aren’t coming as easily as you’d like, a coach is the person for you. Some people describe feeling as though they’re backed into a corner that they can’t get out of. Others feel as though they’re moving through treacle, or seeing the world in black and white. A coach can work with you to change your perspective so the colour, joy and excitement of life returns.

A coach is future focused. We won’t dig into why you’re the way you are, or dwell on the life events that may have held you back. Instead, we look to the future and see where you’d like to end up. We’ll set goals and look at ways to help you focus along your journey. If at any point during our time working together we feel you would be better suited to a therapist or counsellor we will say so and help you find someone.

Transformational coaching focuses on how you can change by challenging the way you see yourself, looking at themes like self love, respect, acceptance and trust. As with many other types of coaching, we’ll work towards specific goals. However, instead of externally focused goals – I’d like a new job or a pay rise, a holiday, or to lose a stone – we’ll investigate what’s stopping you, mentally, from achieving these things. That will mean your goals will look more like ‘how can I be more confident?’, ‘how can I get rid of imposter syndrome?’, ‘what’s making me feel stuck?’.

We listen and ask questions which will prompt you to self search and dig deeper into why you’re feeling stuck and into what’s holding you back. Using cognitive behavioural therapy methods and mindfulness techniques, we’ll work with emotions and feelings in the body, helping you to understand these more fully and learn how to use that new knowledge to guide you to a place of fulfilment and purpose. We’ll also look at your personal values, which are at the heart of the process. By helping you see what’s important to you we can start to create a life that looks different from the one you’re stuck in.

Initially we would work together for six sessions. These sessions can take place as often as you’d like, but we find twice a month to be a good cadence. This will give you time to action your goals but sessions are regular enough to keep you motivated.
However, we can go more slowly if you’d prefer (and depending on your goals) so it might be that you have one session per month or every six weeks. We can discuss this during your first session.

Our standard hourly rate for private clients is £150. For corporate clients, sessions, away days and programmes are carefully tailored to the unique needs of their teams, and so are priced differently. Please get in touch if you would like any further information, for a quote, or to discuss your specific requirements.

The Brain Spa is based in Hove, and you are very welcome to come and see us there. It’s a beautiful, peaceful and comfortable space with plenty of natural light. If that’s not possible for you then working over a video call is also fine. Sometimes it’s nice to get outside in the fresh air, so we can arrange to go for a walk together along the beach, or speak on the phone together while we’re walking.

Yes we do. We usually organise these through Google Meet but can also use Zoom, FaceTime or WhatsApp if that’s your preference.
